MCF Public Notice of Accreditation Renewal
The Land Trust Accreditation Program, administered by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever. Monmouth Conservation Foundation (MCF) received accreditation in 2014 and has since maintained this standard of excellence. MCF is pleased to announce it is applying for accreditation renewal in 2024. A public comment period is now open through August 6, 2024.
Accreditation is awarded to land trusts meeting the highest national standards for excellence and conservation permanence. Each accredited land trust completes a rigorous review process and joins a network of organizations united by strong ethical practices.
The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs.
According to the Land Trust Alliance, a land trust, such as MCF, is “a private, nonprofit organization that, as all or part of its mission, actively works to conserve land by undertaking or assisting in land or conservation easement acquisition, or by its stewardship of such land or easements.”
MCF’s mission is to acquire and preserve open space and farmland and conserve natural habitats throughout Monmouth County in support of outdoor recreation, agriculture, clean water, and wildlife for long-term sustainability. Its vision is to lead conservation and education efforts to preserve and protect our natural environment, so all individuals and communities have access to and can benefit from open space and nature for generations to come.
